The old Farmhouse is for sale and it was time to get the Dining Room looking inviting, comfortable and livable! In years past this room has been Formal and a makeshift Bedroom for my Mother when she was living with us.

I wanted to “de-formalize” the Room and fill it with things that I love and can take with us to our next Home. It has been so much fun pulling this room together…it has loads of charm on its own from the original Wide Plank floors that I adore! I have to admit I love to stop and admire this charming spot now!

I worked around a neutral palette of Creams and Grays. Many accessories I already had…some were re-painted to work in the room. The Wall Niche had shelves, was outdated and I never used it…I pulled out the shelves and painted it with Annie Sloan Paris Gray Chalk Paint. I love how it now is a “feature” by adding a few Ironstone pieces, greenery and candles.

Changing out the outdated Brass Chandelier made a huge difference…a Mission Style Island Light fits perfect over the table.

I have lots of pieces from Flea Markets and Garage Sales that have now found their perfect “home”. I have just started collecting Ironstone and Mercury Glass, I think this may become a small obsession. This room is the perfect fit for both along with some Zinc pieces.

I am in the midst of painting 2 Garage sale Cabinets with faux Zinc tops, (one you can peek at under the chalkboard). I will save that for another post. 😉
